Up to £40,000 + Package
A well-established regional main contractor operating across the Midlands is seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a landmark £20 million private healthcare facility project in Nottinghamshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and motivated individual looking to develop their career within a reputable contractor known for delivering high-quality projects across healthcare, commercial, education, and mixed-use sectors.
The RoleWorking closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider project team, you will support the commercial management of a major healthcare scheme from procurement through to final account. This role offers strong exposure to all stages of project delivery and provides an ideal environment for career progression.
- Assisting with cost planning, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Supporting procurement of subcontract packages
- Preparing subcontract enquiries, comparisons, and recommendations
- Measuring and valuing subcontractor applications and variations
- Assisting with monthly valuations and cost/value reconciliations
- Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks/opportunities
- Supporting change control and variation management
- Assisting with preparation of final accounts
- Maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams
- Ensuring commercial processes are followed in line with company procedures
We are looking for someone eager to build a long-term career in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
- Experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Trainee QS, or Graduate QS role
- Exposure to main contracting or construction project environments
- A degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline (or working towards)
- Good commercial awareness and strong numerical skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced professionals
Experience working on healthcare, commercial, or large-scale construction projects would be advantageous but is not essential.
