An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK's leading Tier 1 contractors, working on a landmark high‑rise residential development in Nottingham.
This role offers the chance to develop your career on a major, high‑value project, working alongside an experienced commercial team that will support your progression towards becoming a Quantity Surveyor and beyond.
The RoleReporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager, you'll assist with the day‑to‑day commercial management of the project while gaining exposure to all aspects of quantity surveying on a large‑scale residential development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the commercial management of subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
- Supporting the preparation of valuations, applications for payment, and cost reports.
- Assisting with monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and financial reporting.
- Measuring works and assisting with the pricing and management of variations.
- Processing subcontractor applications and supporting payment assessments.
- Assisting with procurement, tender analysis, and subcontract package administration.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
- Building positive working relationships with site teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Supporting the commercial team in identifying risks, opportunities, and cost‑saving initiatives.
We're looking for a motivated and commercially minded individual who is eager to develop their career with a leading main contractor.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Graduate Quantity Surveyor, or Trainee Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or construction environment.
- Exposure to residential, commercial, or large‑scale building projects would be advantageous.
- A degree (or working towards a degree) in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- A good understanding of construction contracts, with knowledge of JCT or NEC forms being beneficial.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.
