Turner & Townsend is a leading consultancy provider to the Infrastructure and Defence sectors with a thriving UK Estimating team. We are looking for talented Senior Estimators with proven Defence estimating experience to work with a number of our key Defence sector clients.
Our team delivers a wide range of estimating outputs for our clients, to support their decision‑making, including:
- Estimate/cost model production (from Order of Magnitude through to detailed estimates)
- Major programme estimating strategy
As a Senior Estimator within the Estimating team at Turner & Townsend you will be responsible for:
- Supporting leadership or managing the production of accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects/programmes
- Playing a supporting role in the development and promotion of estimating good practice within Turner &Townsend
- Contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives
- Supporting bids for new work
- Acting as a role model for less experienced staff
- Staff management where appropriate
- Promoting estimating best practice
- Staying abreast of developments within your technical area of expertise to provide best practice advice in line with business objectives
- Actively helping the development of Defence Estimating across the business
- Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering
- Experience working in the Defence sector
- Demonstrable and proven experience in compilation, assurance and delivery of complex estimates and cost models
- Experience working within an integrated Project Controls team
- Experience on public sector projects
- Excellent and flexible skills in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience of working in a client‑facing environment
- Preferred:
Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level - Experience in early stage estimating in complex/mechanical Defence infrastructure programmes
- Familiarity with industry‑standard estimating software packages
