40 hours per week – flexibility on hours available if desired.

Join us as a Principal Engineer and become part of one of the UK's leaders in temporary works design and management and construction‑related technical services. As part of our 100‑strong team, you'll work on hundreds of projects across one of the most diverse and high‑profile portfolios in the country, with access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline – supporting complex construction and major infrastructure schemes from concept through to delivery.

• Practically‑minded, with a strong grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles and knowledge of applicable design standards.
• A Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience.

• Enjoy applying first‑principles thinking to real‑world construction challenges, combining a keen eye for detail with sound engineering judgement, a focus on safety, buildability, sustainability and a flair for innovation and creative problem‑solving.
• Have experience of temporary works design and/or management, or other practical construction experience.
• Have strong organisational and communication skills, and enjoy working as part of collaborative teams.

Leading the delivery of a broad range of complex construction engineering services, including some or all of temporary works design and checking, reviewing permanent designs for compliance and buildability, supporting tenders and pre‑construction planning, and providing technical support to overcome construction‑stage and post‑construction issues and defects.

• Act as Project Lead for multiple complex projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with pre‑construction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery.
• Produce, check and review design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with CDM, SHE procedures and QA processes.
• Develop yourself, other individuals and the wider team, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems, enabling the business to adapt to current and future challenges.
