Help build a best-in-class Building Control service at the heart of one of the UK's most ambitious cities.
Nottingham is a city with bold ambitions for growth, regeneration and investment.
As one of the UK's Core Cities and the economic centre of the East Midlands, Nottingham is driving major investment in new homes, commercial development, infrastructure and regeneration. Through the Nottingham City Vision, the city is delivering long‑term plans to create thriving neighbourhoods, support economic growth, improve connectivity and create opportunities for future generations.
Looking ahead, Local Government Reorganisation is likely to create a new authority serving around c.750,000 residents. This presents a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Building Control within what will become one of the largest and most influential councils in the country.
To support this ambition, Nottingham City Council is investing significantly in its Building Control service. We are expanding the team, modernising technology and systems, improving digital and mobile working, creating new career pathways and building the capability required for the future.
Our ambition is simple: to create a best-in-class local authority Building Control service which matches the scale, profile and aspirations of the city we serve.
We are now seeking an experienced Class 2F Registered Building Inspector to join us as Principal Building Control Surveyor.
This role is ideal for an experienced Building Control professional who wants to continue developing their technical expertise whilst helping shape the future of the profession. You will work on a varied portfolio of projects, act as a senior technical specialist within the service and support the development of less experienced colleagues, whilst remaining focused on professional Building Control practice rather than formal management responsibilities.
Working in Nottingham provides exposure to a breadth of development activity rarely found elsewhere, including city centre regeneration, major residential schemes, commercial projects, heritage assets and complex refurbishment programmes. It is an opportunity to expand your professional experience, influence the future direction of a growing service and play a visible role in the development of one of the UK's leading cities.
If you are looking for technical challenge, professional autonomy, career progression and the opportunity to help build a modern Building Control service with genuine ambition, Nottingham offers an exceptional opportunity.
