Key Responsibilities
· Manage subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
· Prepare subcontract documentation and negotiate terms, conditions, pricing and programmes.
· Assess subcontractor payments and manage variations and commercial changes.
· Produce and issue contractual notices to clients and subcontractors.
· Manage change in accordance with the relevant contract, including the preparation and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
· Prepare, submit and agree monthly client applications.
· Work closely with operational and engineering teams to ensure appropriate site and commercial records are maintained.
· Prepare and present detailed monthly commercial reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
· Produce and maintain accurate project forecasts, monitoring expenditure, liabilities and subcontractor costs.
· Review and critically evaluate project expenditure and internal cost reports.
· Lead progress, commercial and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.
· Identify opportunities to maximise project value, margin and profitability.
· Provide contractual and commercial support to estimating and bid teams when required.
· Promote and maintain a safe working environment. Experience & Skills The successful candidate will ideally have:
· Strong experience working within a commercial or Quantity Surveying environment.
· Experience managing large individual projects or multiple smaller schemes.
· A good understanding of standard construction contracts.
· Strong knowledge of construction processes and commercial management.
· Experience managing subcontractors and subcontract packages.
· Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
· Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
· Strong organisational, time management and delivery skills.
· Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
· Experience using commercial or cost management systems such as CEMAR and Oracle.
· An appropriate CSCS card. Qualifications
· Relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or construction-related degree and/or equivalent industry experience.
· Professional membership such as MCIOB or MRICS would be advantageous, including candidates currently working towards full membership. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of the commercial performance of complex construction projects while working closely with clients, subcontractors and operational teams.
