PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £42,500 - £68,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the Role

BBC Radio Nottingham is looking for a dynamic, creative and fearless Breakfast Presenter to lead our flagship morning show. This is a rare opportunity to become the voice that wakes up Nottinghamshire, guiding our audiences through the biggest stories, the brightest characters, and the best of life across our amazing county.

Every day is different on the Nottingham breakfast programme. One minute you’re reacting to a seismic moment in local politics or breaking news from a busy patch, the next you’re capturing the mood of fans after a dramatic night at the City Ground, Meadow Lane or Field Mill. You’ll bring energy, wit and warmth to every show setting the tone for the day and giving audiences a reason to start their morning with us.

Key Responsibilities and Impact
  • Strong, engaging broadcast skills – an accomplished presentation style with experience of presenting flagship programmes dealing with breaking news, human‑interest stories, OBs, music and speech content.
  • Creative journalism & idea generation – sourcing stories, developing treatments, scripting to BBC Editorial Guidelines and making complex issues accessible. Ambition to tell stories multi platform.
  • Production & technical proficiency – confident producing on‑air/off‑air content, desk operation, new tech, social media and editing systems.
  • Collaboration & leadership – working across teams, mentoring others, sharing content, setting up guests and maintaining strong contacts.
  • Professionalism & organisation – meeting tight deadlines, representing the BBC at events, and upholding best practice, safety and audience needs.
Your Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria
  • A high standard of editorial judgment and an accomplished presentation style with experience of presenting flagship programmes dealing with breaking news, human‑interest stories, OBs, music and speech content. A thorough understanding of production methods used across the audio portfolio and the ability to adapt to new media.
  • To have a developed/specialist knowledge of the local area, and an understanding of the impact a story may have in that area.
  • To have an understanding of how the BBC’s Impartiality Guidelines may apply to the role.
  • Strong team working and ability to build strong relationships with key people in other parts of the BBC.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to improving diversity in the BBC and understands how individual differences can benefit the Corporation.
