Technical Project Manager – Technical Event Production

Hours: 43 per week
Salary: £38,000-£45,000
Benefits: 28 days holiday (including statutory, pro rata where applicable), pension scheme, free onsite parking.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to join their growing live events and audio‑visual team. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge of AV systems who thrives in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment. You will work closely with the production team to oversee live event projects from concept to completion, managing timelines, budgets and onsite delivery while maintaining excellent customer relationships.

This is a hands‑on role requiring strong organisational skills, technical understanding, and the ability to lead teams both in the warehouse and onsite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage projects from initial brief through to completion.
  • Design and specify projects of all sizes with support from the wider team.
  • Deliver AV projects to high standards while maintaining budgets.
  • Play a key role in commercial aspects of each project.
  • Manage and coordinate onsite teams, including subcontractors.
  • Oversee logistics planning for each project.
  • Manage installation of equipment onsite in line with briefs/specifications.
  • Operate equipment onsite and oversee event build/breakdown.
  • Communicate project information to clients professionally and promptly.
  • Work with management to specify appropriate AV solutions.
  • Support warehouse functions, including:
    • Project planning, kit prep and pre‑build
    • Reporting stock shortages
    • Monitoring equipment condition and arranging repairs where economical
  • Carry out any other duties as required.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong understanding of AV industry equipment: audio, lighting, LED video, processing, graphics systems, rigging, staging.
  • Proven project management experience (both onsite and office‑based).
  • Knowledge of industry suppliers and current trends.
  • Basic experience with fault‑finding and repair.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ownership, accountability, and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to plan ahead, prioritise, delegate and oversee workload.
  • Experience managing logistics for events/projects.
  • Competent with CAD/design tools (AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Sketch Up).
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Desirable: IPAF, forklift/telehandler, First Aid certification.
  • GCSE‑level English and Maths (or equivalent).
