Games Workshop has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Typesetter to join Black Library’s talented Art and Design team, where you’ll be responsible for creating accurate, accessible and high-quality typesets for our award-winning range of Warhammer novels.
Industrious, focused, and with an encyclopedic knowledge of typesetting for both fiction and layout-driven non-fiction titles, we’ll look to you to mentor the team, sharing your deep knowledge and ensuring quality standards. You will also be responsible for updating and sharing process documentation with the team under the guidance of the Graphic Design Team Lead.
Thriving through collaboration and excited by opportunities to improve continuously, you will work productively with colleagues in our Editorial, Desk Edit, and Graphic Design teams to produce attractive and readable layouts for manuscripts that flow naturally and complement the narrative action and IP. An excellent communicator, you will also be a key point of contact for all typesetting queries across the business.
You will enjoy the challenge of working at pace to deliver typesets and precisely action proofreading and sign-off corrections.
With an eye for detail, you will take the lead on complex design-led projects such as art and background and illustrated and annotated books. You will also develop new templates as required, and provide clear instruction on how to use them. You will ensure that quality is always at the forefront, from the outset of a project to the delivery of assets to archiving.
You’ll take the lead on reprographics and will ensure the best quality in printed products by managing the organisation and supply of physical proofs to printing suppliers. We’ll look to you to perform vital proofer audits and performance checks and manage ordering needs with the external providers.
Your ability to deliver on quality, remain solution-focused and drive improvements will make you successful in this role. An expert level of knowledge in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is essential.
