Job Summary
Applicants are invited for one Trust Grade post within the Department of Infectious Diseases and OPAT at Nottingham University Hospitals.
DepartmentThe Infectious Diseases and OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy) Department is based at the City Campus. It has a 13‑bed dedicated Infectious Disease Ward with seven en‑suite side rooms, five with monitored negative‑pressure ventilation. Patients are admitted from emergency medical wards, transferred from other departments, or other hospitals. The service covers a wide range of infections including HIV, tuberculosis, returned travellers, community and hospital‑acquired infections, and pyrexia of unknown origin.
MainDuties
The role involves inpatient care, contributions to an outpatient clinic, and out‑of‑hours on‑call. For the OPAT service, the postholder will review patients in the Intravenous Infusion Centre, conduct virtual ward rounds and face‑to‑face clinic visits, and liaise with a wide variety of specialties.
Where service provision allows, the successful applicant will receive training and educational opportunities tailored to individual needs and may attend educational teaching sessions. The postholder will contribute to audit and participate in clinical meetings and training of other professionals.
Person Specification Essential Experience- Good and wide‑ranging recent experience of clinical medicine.
- Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement.
- Potential to develop excellent diagnostic skills.
- UK experience of three months or more.
- Experience in a large acute hospital.
- Substantive UK/Irish experience.
- At least two full years of post‑graduate clinical experience equivalent to foundation training.
- Ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Basic skills in presentations for professional and non‑professional groups.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrable spoken English skills adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to contribute to a multi‑disciplinary team.
- MBBS or equivalent.
- GMC Registration with licence to practice.
- MRCP Part 1, 2.
- MRCP PACES.
