A GP Partner (General Practitioner Partner) is a senior doctor within a general practice who combines clinical responsibilities with leadership and business management duties. Main duties of the jobClinical Responsibilities
- Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses
- Preventative healthcare and health promotion
- Safeguarding responsibilities
- Managing complex and high‑risk patients
- Supervising and mentoring junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals
As practice owners, GP Partners share responsibility for the strategic direction and operational management of the practice.
- Workforce planning and recruitment
- Financial management and budgeting
- Compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Care Quality Commission)
- Contract management (e.g., NHS contracts such as GMS/PMS/APMS)
- Service development and quality improvement
- Governance and risk management
GP Partners are accountable for ensuring the practice meets contractual obligations with the NHS England and delivers safe, sustainable services.
Strategic and Community RoleGP Partners help shape the future of local healthcare by:
- Working collaboratively within Primary Care Networks (PCNs)
- Engaging with local stakeholders and community services
- Contributing to system‑wide planning with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs)
- Driving innovation and digital transformation within the practice
Unlike salaried GPs, GP Partners:
- Hold financial risk and share in profits
- Are jointly and severally liable for the business
- Influence long‑term strategic decisions
- Shape the culture and values of the organisation
We are a small and friendly GP practice located in Long Eaton, with excellent access to Nottingham or Derby or further afield, with junction 25 of the M1 being less than 2 miles away. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our friendly and caring Practice as a GP Partner.
We pride ourselves on being a well‑established training practice providing general medical services for our practice list of 5,800 patients. This is a rewarding and varied role for a GP who shares our ethos of providing patient‑centred care and is motivated to maintain and improve our high QOF achievement and contribute to the development of the organisational and business aspect of the Practice.
We are a fully computerised Practice, using TPP Systm One and working towards becoming paper‑light. We have an integrated nursing team including a Nursing team, Health Care Assistant and an efficient and supportive administration team.

Job responsibilitiesThere will be a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
b. The provision of services commensurate with the GP contract
c. Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly, referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising practice and any other local guidelines
d. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
e. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
