Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A full range of Stroke emergency and elective patients are admitted to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the appointee will be responsible for the management of those patients admitted under their care.
The following draft Job Plan reflects our best assessment of what the final plan will be, based on 10 PAs. For all new consultants to NUH, we offer 8PA's DCC and 2 SPA's for the first year.

This service provided by the Stroke Specialty is provided across both campuses, but the primary base for this post is Queens Medical Centre.
Person specification Attainments Essential criteria- Full GMC registration
- CCT expected within 6 months of interview date OR via CESR route, must have confirmation of RCP approval to be entered onto the Specialist Register
- Eligible to be included on the specialist registrar
- MRCP
- Higher professional degree
- Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit
- Able to teach and support junior staff effectively
- Original Research Publications Higher teaching degree or qualification or training
- Able to work flexibly in a changing health service
- Able to use the Trust's IT support systems
- Extensive experience in Stroke Medicine
- Experience in hyper acute stroke care and trained and experienced in thrombolism
- Comprehensive knowledge of current issues in general internal medicine.
- Evidenced technical skills as described in the job description
- Specific training in communication skills
- Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
- Able to develop, present and ope rationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery.
- Able to delegate appropriately.
- Able to work in a team.
- Proven leadership skills, able to lead a team effectively.
- Higher management degree or qualification or training
- Experience of change management
- Ability to travel between City Hospital Campus and Queen's Medical Centre campus
