MATERNITY COVER - TEACHING ASSISTANT ROLE, KS1 - JANUARY START
I am working with one of our partner schools based in Nottingham who are in need of a highly experienced KS1 Teaching Assistant, this role is to cover maternity leave.
We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Primary School Teaching Assistants to support a range of welcoming primary schools. If you are passionate about helping children learn, grow, and succeed, we would love to hear from you.
About the RoleAs a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers to support pupils across Key Stage
1. Your role will involve helping to deliver engaging lessons, supporting individual and small-group learning, and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment. Ideally highly experienced with phonics.
- Provide support to pupils 1:1, in small groups, or across the whole class
- Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities
- Help set up and organise classroom resources
- Support pupils with SEND or additional needs
- Encourage positive behaviour and help maintain classroom routines
- Supervise pupils during transitions, break times, and activities
- Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
- Work closely with teachers to support teaching and learning
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE/NCFE or equivalent)
- Recent UK school experience, ideally within a primary setting
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Experience with phonics programmes such as Little Wandle
- Knowledge of EYFS, KS1, or KS2 curriculum
- Experience supporting SEND, EAL, or behavioural needs
- Experience delivering small-group interventions
- Day-to-day, part-time, and full-time roles based on your availability
