Our OpportunityThis role is part of ‘Sensory Pathways’, which is predominantly working in pupils’ homes, or occasionally at the Children’s Hospital School (at Queen’s Medical Centre). We are looking for ‘the right person for a position to change lives’. This role has been created to support children and families in removing barriers to regular education attendance. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking and flexible Teaching Assistant to join our team of dedicated staff. You will be an experienced Teaching Assistant who has worked in a specialist education setting, or within a mainstream and have substantial SEND experience. This role will have a focus on planning and delivering an outreach programme for pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) who are not attending school for health reasons.
The curriculum is delivered in the home, or occasionally at the Children’s Hospital School, on a 1 : 1 basis. Candidates must have access to a car and business insurance included. Payment of mileage and off‑site travel can be claimed for.
Knowledge of SEN is essential, alongside the ability to respond quickly and flexibly to the complex needs of our children and young people. You will be required to ensure the safety of our children and young people, and facilitate their access to learning by responding to individual needs. You will use your excellent interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students and their families, and then assess the attainment and progress of our students, in order to help them succeed.
This role is 0.4 (15 hours / 2 days per week). For the right candidate, this role could be combined with the 0.6 Teaching Assistant vacancy that we have advertised to create a full time post.
