Teaching Assistant - Autism & SEND Support
Location: Nottingham NG4
Pay: £90-106 per day (experience dependent)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm (term-time only)
Start: ASAP

Join a Highly Specialist Autism Setting That Makes Every Day MeaningfulA dedicated Autism-specific provision in the NG4 area is looking for an empathetic and reliable Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with complex communication needs, sensory differences and a wide range of developmental profiles. The setting is known for its structured, predictable routines, communication-focused teaching, and a warm, supportive approach where pupils thrive through consistency, visuals, calmness and trust.

- Supporting autistic pupils 1:1 or in small groups using structured, visual and communication-based strategies
- Helping learners engage through predictable routines and personalised plans
- Encouraging independence, communication, emotional regulation and life skills
- Providing sensory support and calm guidance throughout the school day
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and specialist staff
- Creating a safe, stable and nurturing environment where every child can grow
- Experience supporting autistic children or young people with SEND, ASC/ASD, sensory needs or communication differences
- Understanding of visual aids, schedules and clear, consistent communication
- A patient, steady and calm approach - especially during moments of dysregulation
- Flexibility and confidence adapting to individual needs and learning styles
- A collaborative, team-focused attitude
- Enhanced DBS for both Child & Adult Workforce (or willingness to apply promptly)
- Flexible supply work with the option to move into long-term or ongoing roles
- A supportive team that values structured practice, communication and pupil wellbeing
- Free CPD including Autism-specific training, behaviour regulation and communication strategies
- Consistent guidance from an education specialist
