Teaching Assistant - Autism & SEND Support

Location: Nottingham NG4

Pay: £90-106 per day (experience dependent)

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm (term-time only)

Start: ASAP

Contract: Flexible supply. Ongoing work. Potential for long-term placement.

A dedicated Autism-specific provision in the NG4 area is looking for an empathetic and reliable Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with complex communication needs, sensory differences and a wide range of developmental profiles. The setting is known for its structured, predictable routines, communication-focused teaching, and a warm, supportive approach where pupils thrive through consistency, visuals, calmness and trust.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting autistic pupils 1:1 or in small groups using structured, visual and communication-based strategies
  • Helping learners engage through predictable routines and personalised plans
  • Encouraging independence, communication, emotional regulation and life skills
  • Providing sensory support and calm guidance throughout the school day
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and specialist staff
  • Creating a safe, stable and nurturing environment where every child can grow
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience supporting autistic children or young people with SEND, ASC/ASD, sensory needs or communication differences
  • Understanding of visual aids, schedules and clear, consistent communication
  • A patient, steady and calm approach - especially during moments of dysregulation
  • Flexibility and confidence adapting to individual needs and learning styles
  • A collaborative, team-focused attitude
  • Enhanced DBS for both Child & Adult Workforce (or willingness to apply promptly)
