Science Technician – Term Time Only

Salary: £22,037 to £22,682 (Actual salary for 36 hours per week, term time only)

We are seeking to appoint a full time, term time only Technician to work within the Science team of the Colleges successful Sixth Form which delivers GCSE, A Levels and vocational Science courses.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare practical equipment for science classes.
- Assist and supervise students in the Science Laboratories.
- Help with practical work and supervise students during class contact hours.
- Assist in the maintenance and distribution of the equipment, monitoring stock levels and supporting lecturers during demonstrations.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and assist in all Science areas.
Qualifications and
Experience:
- Qualified to A Level or equivalent in a Science subject, or have substantial relevant experience.
- Experience working in a science laboratory/workshop.
- Good organisational skills.
- Understanding of basic health and safety requirements.
- Effective communication with students and ability to work as part of a team.

Please note: for individuals who start a term time only role after 1st September, the salary will be pro-rated from the start date to the end of this academic year (31st August 2026). This ensures correct entitlement to pay and holiday pay relative to the portion of the year worked. It will be paid in equal monthly instalments until 31 August.
The salary will revert to the normal arrangements as stated in the advert at the start of the following academic year.
