The Taiwan Research Hub, in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, offers a PhD scholarship for study commencing 2026/27 academic year. The scholarship is £11,000 per year for 3 years (full-time) and is competitive. A panel will rank applications; final judgement is theirs.
Research may be in comparative politics or interdisciplinary, but must relate to Taiwan and have one supervisor from the School.
EligibilityApplicants must be accepted for a PhD programme at the University of Nottingham for the 2026/27 academic year and study full-time. Home/EU and International students are eligible. The award value is £11,000 per year for 3 years, regardless of residency, and depends on satisfactory attendance and progress.
Application ProcedureSend application email with subject "TRH PhD Scholarship Application" to Mandy Felton (m). Include:
- Your name
- The degree programme to which you will apply
- Confirmation that you will commence study in October 2026
- The title of the proposed doctoral research project
- A research proposal up to 2,000 words (excluding references) covering overview, key literature, novelty, and methods
- A statement of up to 250 words from each member of the proposed supervisory team (including one from the School) explaining how their expertise fits the project
