Applicants must hold a Level 6 JNC-recognised Youth Work qualification. Candidates who hold a Level 3 Youth Work qualification may still be considered; however, this will be at apprentice level only. Please note that qualified candidates with a JNC Level 6 qualification will be given priority over those who are not qualified to this level.

The apprenticeship is a fixed term contract and the course will last for 3 years. Training will be a mixture of regular online lessons, course work and on-the-job training. Alongside this, you will work as part of Nottinghamshire County Council Youth Service. On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be guaranteed a permanent position. As a Youth Worker
, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of young people. You will design and lead interventions outside of the open access provision as well as leading 4 open access sessions in the evening/weekend.

In this dynamic role, you will:
  • Lead and Inspire
    :
    Manage a youth work unit, guiding staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality programmes.
  • Engage and Empower
    :
    Facilitate regular sessions and targeted group work to support young people's social development.
  • Plan and Evaluate
    :
    Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of youth work, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate and Connect
    :
    Work closely with partner agencies and community groups to enhance service provision.
  • Promote Equality
    :
    Advocate for diversity and participation, ensuring every young person feels included and valued.
  • Access to a vehicle and current full driving licence is essential, disabled employees who are unable to drive because of their disability will be able to use taxis to carry out their duties.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
  • Previous experience of working with children and young people.
  • A relevant qualification, such as JNC level 6 or a minimum of NVQ Level 3 youth work qualification.
  • Proven experience in managing challenging behaviour and delivering youth work programmes.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
