Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and student‑focused Transition Tutor to support learner progression across our college. In this highly rewarding role you will work closely with vulnerable learners, helping them to successfully transition into new curriculum areas, secure the next steps in their education, and build confidence through structured campus and curriculum tours. You will be a trusted point of contact during the transition period, guiding learners around attendance, engagement and learning expectations, while working collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and support teams to embed inclusive practice and share learner needs, reasonable adjustments and support strategies.
Responsibilities• Support students from inclusive pathways, including Foundation Learning, King's Trust programmes, LALs and high‑needs students.
• Deliver structured tours and tailored support to ensure smooth transitions.
• Act as a consistent point of contact and facilitate learner settlement.
• Work cross‑functionally with teachers, pastoral staff and support teams to embed inclusive practice and progress monitoring.
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people in an education, training or support setting.
- Strong understanding of inclusive practice, learner needs and progression pathways within education.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusted, supportive relationships with learners and staff.
- The ability to provide consistent, calm and supportive guidance to learners during periods of change.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate records.
- Proactive, flexible approach, able to work effectively across different curriculum areas and sites.
- Experience of monitoring learner progress and identifying barriers to engagement or achievement.
- Commitment to person‑centred, trauma‑informed approaches that support positive learner outcomes.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
- Competitive salary: £25,256 to £26,348 per annum, FTE (pro‑rata for part‑time).
