Overview
Empowering Learning is recruiting a SEND Class Teacher to work in a special needs school in Nottinghamshire. Experience working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils is a must. QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential, as attitude and personality are absolutely key.
The ability to teach across the primary curriculum and knowledge of sensory learning is essential. This role will start in September 2026.
Qualifications- Class teacher experience (particularly in SEND)
- Ability to teach EYFS/primary age pupils
- Highly organised with excellent communication skills
- Desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
- Excellent behaviour management skills
- Understanding of expectations against the Teachers Standards
- Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
- Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
- Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
- Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
- Possibly supervising on lunch and break times
- Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
- Building relationships with staff and pupils
- Collecting evidence of pupils' work to support their assessments
- Providing feedback to the relevant member of staff about pupils' progress
- Pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils
- Potentially lead in a subject area
- Ensure a team approach to education with stakeholders such as parents and carers
- Dedicated consultant allocated to support you with any questions or concerns
- Support in writing CVs and job applications
- Fast, effective compliance service
- £150 for referral of Teachers or Teaching Assistants
- Free, up to date safeguarding training
