About the role

You will play a role in supporting the management, coordinating, and delivering assessments across the undergraduate Veterinary modules. This includes Exam Sys papers, Observed Structured Clinical and Practical assessments (OSPE/CEs), and coursework submissions. As part of the School’s Assessments Team, you will ensure that all administrative, logistical, and regulatory elements of assessment delivery are carefully planned and executed, supporting a fair, well‑organised, and positive experience for students, academics, and examiners.

Working closely with colleagues across the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science including academic teams, clinical skills staff, and professional services you will help ensure assessment processes are robust, compliant, and consistently delivered to a high standard. You will contribute to assessment activity across the undergraduate course, supporting both day‑to‑day operational delivery and the ongoing review and improvement of assessment practices.

The role requires flexibility in working hours to support on‑site examinations and provide hands‑on operational oversight. You will also be expected to work at Sutton Bonington Campus.

The duties described provide a framework for the role but are not exhaustive. You may be asked to undertake other reasonable responsibilities appropriate to the grade and purpose of the post, and you will be expected to work flexibly to support Professional Services activity across the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science.

About the Team

The role sits within the delivery arm of the Assessments Team at the University of Nottingham’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. The team comprises four APM staff and is responsible for delivering and continuously improving assessments across the undergraduate programme. Our schedule includes 8,000 summative exams and 2,000 coursework submissions annually, 100 lab‑based practical exams and 300 vivas, and administration of 4,200 OSCE and OSPE stations using live animals, models, and cadavers.

We work closely with academic colleagues, external examiners, and invigilators in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with a strong focus on professionalism, inclusivity, operational excellence, and service development.

About you

You will bring relevant qualifications or substantial experience in further or higher education, alongside strong administrative experience, data handling and reporting skills, and a sound understanding of GDPR. You will be highly organised, an excellent communicator, and confident managing multiple priorities to demanding deadlines, with a strong commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.

Benefits
  • A friendly, diverse, and supportive working environment
  • Generous holiday entitlement of 27 (30) days (or pro rata) plus standard bank holidays and five university closure days including closure between Christmas and New Year.
  • Our reward scheme grants bonuses of numerous values for excellent work
  • We are committed to staff development through the provision of training, continued support, and career progression opportunities
  • You will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including fitness and health facilities, staff discounts, travel schemes and many more.
Equal Opportunity

Your application will be considered on an equal basis, subject to the relevant permission to work in the UK as set out by UK Visas & Immigration.
