Long Term Futures is seeking an energetic and engaging Sports Coach Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with SEND needs in a welcoming Nottingham primary school.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in sports coaching, mentoring or youth work who can use their enthusiasm, resilience and positive attitude to build a strong relationship with a pupil requiring additional support. The school is looking for someone who can act as a positive role model, helping the child remain engaged in learning while promoting confidence, emotional regulation and participation throughout the school day.

About

the Role

Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with SEND needs
  • Using sports, movement and active learning strategies to promote engagement
  • Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation and social development
  • Encouraging participation in classroom activities and structured interventions
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Supporting learning across the KS2 curriculum
  • Promoting independence, resilience and self-confidence
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to implement support strategies

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience as a Sports Coach, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or Mentor
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Energetic, engaging and confident in building relationships with pupils
  • Able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenges
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passionate about helping children achieve their potential
