Job PurposeAs an Inspire Music Teacher, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality music education across Nottinghamshire. You will inspire children and young people through inclusive, engaging and accessible musical learning opportunities, supporting Inspire Music's commitment to ensuring that all young people can participate in and benefit from music, regardless of their background, ability or circumstance.
The post holder will deliver instrumental and vocal tuition, whole-class ensemble teaching, workshops, ensembles and performances, while contributing to the wider aims and success of Inspire:
Culture, Learning and Libraries.
- Deliver high quality instrumental/vocal teaching and ensemble activities to schools throughout Nottinghamshire.
- Plan and deliver Whole Class Ensemble Teaching, large group and small group music lessons which engage and encourage and which meet the specific needs of learners.
- Differentiation to meet the needs of all learners including those with special educational needs, and manage groups of young people with differing abilities and needs.
- Set high expectations for all learners and build successful relationships centred on learning.
- Display a proficient and professional level of musicianship.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of key educational issues and developments, national policy initiatives and required teaching standards.
- Actively engage in continuing professional development.
- Ensure relevant safeguarding procedures are followed and required teaching standards understood.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, attendance and musical engagement, and contribute to reporting required to support Inspire Music's delivery of the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Music Education Hub's key performance indicators and objectives.
- Work in accordance with all Inspire policies and procedures, Inspire Brand guidelines, Nottinghamshire County Council contractual requirements and professional best practice.
- Degree, diploma or equivalent professional qualification in Music, or substantial relevant professional experience in music education, performance or a related field.
- Knowledge and understanding of music education, classroom management and effective teaching and learning strategies.
- Understanding of current music qualifications, assessment pathways and instrumental and vocal teaching approaches.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Inspire Music offers an alternative training pathway for suitable candidates without a formal teaching qualification, providing structured support to develop practice, work alongside experienced colleagues, and complete the Certificate for Music Educators (CME) within two years of appointment.

- Experience of leadership, mentoring or supervising colleagues, ensembles, projects or educational programmes.
- Knowledge of current developments within Music Education Hubs and national music education policy.
- Experience of working in music education, demonstrating an understanding of current teaching strategies, effective musical pedagogy and inclusive approaches that support the participation, progress and achievement of all learners.
- A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care, with the ability to set a positive example for colleagues through high standards of professional conduct and musicianship.
