About NUBS China

Nottingham University Business School China is an integral part of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) and delivers world‑class business programmes across undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, postdoctoral and executive levels. The Business School has been awarded the prestigious Triple Crown accreditation by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA – a distinction held by fewer than 1% of business schools worldwide. NUBS China currently enrolls over 3,621 Chinese and international students, with around 894 postgraduate students including PhD candidates.

The faculty consists of 111 international academics from 18 countries and regions. English is the medium of instruction for all programmes. The School focuses on high‑impact research, customized executive education and high‑quality teaching, and is expanding its academic staff accordingly. It is an international gateway for research on business, finance and economics in China and a centre of expertise on Chinese firms going global.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead, plan, develop and conduct individual and/or collaborative research projects and proposals as an individual or as part of a broader programme.
  • Establish a national reputation and regularly disseminate research findings through leading peer‑reviewed national publications, conferences and other appropriate media on a sustained basis.
  • Deliver teaching across a range of modules or within a subject area, providing curriculum leadership within your area of expertise.
  • Design modules and/or programmes of study in your specialist area and ensure their quality. Where appropriate, identify the need for developing the content or structure of existing modules and make proposals for improvement.
  • Supervise and examine postgraduate, master’s and PhD students.
About You

NUBS China seeks proactive, mature academics who are self‑driven, results‑oriented, resilient and creative, with internationally recognised intellectual contributions in the relevant subject area.

Candidates should have:
  • PhD in business analytics or a relevant subject area.
  • A strong track record of publishing high‑quality research in international peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Experience teaching relevant subjects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in an international English-speaking institution.
  • Ability to secure internal and external research funding.

The School also looks for academic leaders who demonstrate strong evidence of attracting research funding and/or leading research projects, proven ability to mentor junior researchers, robust research networking to attract collaborators and funding, and editorial experience at leading international journals.

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support

The successful candidate will be offered a five‑year contract that may be extended by mutual agreement. Salary will be within the range of 454,692 RMB to 598,744 RMB per annum, depending on qualifications and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition to salary, you will receive accommodation allowance, insurances, schooling support, home flight, relocation and repatriation support, and paid annual leave.

You will also have access to Chinese talent scheme application opportunities where eligible. If you have reached the statutory retirement age, a service agreement will be offered instead.

University of Nottingham Ningbo China is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to providing a fair and mutually supportive learning and working environment for our students and staff. Applicants and staff are treated solely on the basis of merit, ability and potential, without regard to gender, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, age, socio‑economic background, disability, religious or political beliefs, trade union membership, family circumstances, sexual orientation or other irrelevant distinctions.
