Functional Skills Tutor

Position Overview

Prospero Teaching is looking for 1:1 tutors to support children in care, children with special educational needs and excluded pupils in Crumpsall and the surrounding areas.

• Provide tuition in Maths, English and Science across all key stages.
• Deliver lessons in a range of settings, including a student’s home, a care home or local library.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet individual behaviour and SEN needs.

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 3 hours per day
Minimum rate: £25 per hour

• QTS or QTLS preferred but not essential; relevant experience will be considered.
• Minimum of a degree level in the tuition subject.
• Experience working with students with SEMH or LAC is advantageous.
• Highly motivated, focused on student success, with a positive attitude.
• Ability to engage and motivate students while keeping learning fun.

• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced child‑barred DBS certificate, registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for one.
• Provide two professional child‑related references covering the last two years.

• Accredited continuous professional development courses including safeguarding and behaviour management.
• In‑house training and development team.
