We are looking for an innovative and dynamic Lecturer for delivery within our Supported Learning department to deliver high‑quality, inclusive teaching and learning for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will have experience of teaching, learning and assessment within a SEND setting, ideally further educational. You will inspire and motivate learners, placing their individual needs, aspirations and wellbeing at the heart of all practice, while supporting them to achieve positive personal, social and educational outcomes.
You will have knowledge and understanding of working with school leavers and young adults from 16 to 24 years of age, and be able to evidence your achievements with this cohort. For this role, candidates must also have experience of working with pre‑Entry sensory learners through to Entry 3 students.
The successful applicant will be able to deliver accredited qualifications at Pre‑Entry to Level 1, which may include Functional Skills Maths & English. You will be a professional, responsible and confident lecturer who has the skills to inspire both students and colleagues alike, and the ability to innovatively create and deliver and achieve for our young people.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Plan and deliver engaging, accessible and differentiated learning programmes that meet the diverse needs of learners with SEND.
- Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence and self‑advocacy.
- Work empathetically with learners to understand their individual requirements, goals and barriers to learning.
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies to ensure the best possible outcomes for each learner.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, parents/carers and external agencies to provide holistic support.
- Contribute to curriculum development through innovative and creative approaches to teaching and assessment.
With previous experience of teaching, you’ll have a practical, but creative approach that generates outstanding lessons that fully engage and inspire students, with ability to create innovative methods of learning that will support students' and prepare them for progression to higher level learning and training.
For this role we are looking for people who:- Have experience of delivery to 16 to 18 year olds specifically, as well as school leavers up to the age of 24 years and are passionate about teaching in FE sector.
- Able to create and deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment with an innovative, inspirational and learner‑centred approach.
- Are committed to ensuring all our students make the best progress possible in achieving their personal goals and maximising their potential.
- Are able to work in a demanding and changing environment.
- Are able to bring current skills and awareness of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment.
- Are passionate about supporting learners with SEND and committed to inclusive education.
- Are empathetic, patient and adaptable, with a strong understanding of individual learner needs.
- Qualified to teach in the FE sector (or willing to work towards a recognised teaching qualification).
