Sports Coach – SEN & SEMH Support

You will support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a 1:1 basis across Nottinghamshire. The role focuses on building trusting relationships, motivating learners, managing behaviour positively and encouraging emotional wellbeing and resilience. You will work within the community, tailoring support to each young person’s interests, needs and aspirations.

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to young people with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Plan and facilitate practical activities, sport sessions and life‑skills workshops that engage reluctant learners.
• Support young people to reconnect with learning, develop confidence, and achieve personal goals.
• Collect and transport young people safely to and from sessions, ensuring appropriate vehicle insurance and precautions.
• Collaborate with families, educators and other professionals to deliver joined‑up support.
• Document progress, manage behaviour outcomes and report on development to relevant stakeholders.

• Full UK driving licence with access to a reliable vehicle and valid business insurance.
• Experience working with SEN, SEMH, autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour (preferred but not mandatory).
• Background in sport, coaching, fitness, youth development or physical activity.
• Proactive, calm under pressure, with strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt approaches to meet individual needs.

Flexible part‑time or full‑time placements. Typical hours 9:00am–3:00pm, Monday to Friday, with immediate or September starts available.
