About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Supply Teaching Assistants to work across a range of specialist schools and provisions throughout Nottingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in a variety of educational settings, including mainstream primary and secondary schools, SEN schools, SEMH provisions, and alternative settings. You will support pupils with a wide range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and challenging behaviour

Working as a Supply Teaching Assistant offers flexibility and variety while providing valuable experience supporting children and young people with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in delivering classroom activities and learning programmes.
  • Adapt support to meet the individual needs of pupils.
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and participation.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Follow school policies, behaviour plans, and EHCP targets.
  • Support personal care needs where required.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, coaching, or similar settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working in different settings.
  • Ability to build positive relationships quickly.
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive attitude.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, or Learning Support Assistant.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs.
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, and additional learning needs.
  • Experience working within mainstream or specialist school settings.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Team Teach or equivalent behaviour management training.
