The School of Sociology and Social Policy is a vibrant centre for social science teaching and research. We are a multidisciplinary School covering criminology, sociology, public policy, social policy, and social work. Due to a member of our criminology team being awarded a research grant, we are looking for an enthusiastic scholar to join our team as an Assistant Professor in Criminology on a one-year fixed term Teaching and Curriculum Leadership contract (full-time (36.25 hours) starting January 2027).

The successful applicant will be expected to make a significant contribution to teaching in the School, and particularly our criminology programmes. Core undergraduate criminology teaching will be a priority, including research methods. The successful applicant will also play an active role in School operations, for example by taking on an academic administrative role in relation to teaching. Applicants should have a strong background in delivering educational programmes in criminology, along with experience of supporting students and academic administration.

We actively encourage people from minoritised backgrounds to apply, as we are determined to provide a diverse and inclusive environment for staff and students which draws on the widest possible range of talents and backgrounds.

The University of Nottingham offers a variety of personal benefits to all staff, to help support you as a valued member of the institution. To find out more, visit our benefits website.
