At Nottingham College, we are seeking a highly capable and versatile engineering lecturer who can deliver across Mechanical & Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and Engineering Maths and Science from Level 1 through to Level 5.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced FE practitioner who enjoys teaching across multiple disciplines and levels, and who is confident delivering both practical workshop-based learning and analytically rigorous classroom teaching.
You will play a key role in supporting learners at every stage of their engineering journey — from foundation learners developing core skills to degree-level students mastering advanced analytical concepts.
About the RoleWe are looking for a multidisciplinary engineer who can confidently bridge:
- Mechanical systems and design
- Electrical and electronic systems
- The mathematical and physical principles that underpin engineering practice
- You will deliver across FE and HE provision, supporting programmes including:
- Level 1 & Level 2 Engineering
- Level 3 (BTEC & T Level)
- Level 4/5 HNC/HND
The successful candidate will combine strong subject knowledge with the adaptability and learner focus essential within an FE environment.
What You Will Teach- Mechanical Engineering
- Engineering principles and applied mechanics
- Materials, manufacturing and maintenance
- Fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
- Mechanical design and CAD
- Analytical problem-solving
- Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Electrical science and circuit theory (AC/DC)
- Electrical machines and power systems
- Analogue and digital electronics
- Control systems and automation
- PLC and embedded systems
- Algebra, trigonometry and calculus
- Applied mechanics and engineering science
- Statistical methods for engineers
You must be confident teaching mathematics and applied physics to degree-level learners, while also supporting foundation learners in building confidence and core skills.
Who we're looking forWe are particularly interested in experienced FE lecturers who:
- Have a degree (Level 6 or above) in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or related Engineering discipline
- Have strong underpinning knowledge of Engineering Mathematics and Applied Physics
- Can teach across both mechanical and electrical disciplines
- Are confident delivering analytical content up to Level 6
- Have experience working with diverse FE learners
- Maintain high expectations around attendance, behaviour and academic standards Are organised, adaptable and student-focused
- A teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed) is essential or must be achieved within a specified timeframe.
- Industry experience within electro-mechanical environments
- Familiarity with CAD, simulation and control software
- Experience contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement
