Attendance Officer

At Nottingham College, we know that regular attendance is one of the most important factors in helping students succeed. As a 16-18 Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting our young people to attend college regularly, overcome barriers to attendance and make the most of their time with us. Working closely with curriculum teams, students, parents/carers and colleagues across the College, you will help identify attendance concerns early and provide the encouragement, challenge and practical support students need to stay engaged with their education.

• Monitor and review student attendance, identifying emerging concerns and patterns.
• Work proactively with students to understand and address barriers to regular attendance.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/carers and college staff regarding attendance concerns.
• Work collaboratively with curriculum and support teams to improve attendance and engagement.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and contribute to appropriate interventions and follow-up activity.
• Provide encouragement, challenge and support to students to help them develop positive attendance habits.
• Contribute to a positive culture where students understand the importance of attending college and engaging in their learning.
• Escalate persistent or significant attendance concerns appropriately and in line with College procedures.

We are looking for someone who is confident working with young people and can build positive relationships while also having the confidence to challenge poor attendance. You will be organised, persistent and solution-focused, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be comfortable working with a range of people and situations and able to handle sensitive conversations professionally and appropriately. You will also need to be able to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records, while contributing positively to a wider team.

£17,632 to £18,395 per annum (this is the pro rata salary for term-time only) Fixed term contract.
