CORE PURPOSEWe are seeking an articulate, critical, and passionate Sociology Teacher to deliver engaging Key Stage 4 GCSE Sociology and Key Stage 5 A-Level Sociology. Working within an established Social Sciences department, the successful candidate will introduce students to sociological theories, research methodologies, social stratification, and contemporary social issues, fostering analytical debate and academic rigor across the secondary and post-16 age range.

KEYTASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach dynamic theoretical and empirical Sociology lessons across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (AQA specification), covering key areas such as education, crime and deviance, families and households, beliefs in society, and theory and methods.
Research & Methodological Training: Teach quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, training pupils to evaluate data sources, ethical considerations, and theoretical perspectives (e.g., Marxism, Functionalism, Feminism, Postmodernism).
Assessment & Essay Moderation: Regularly assess student essay writing, diagnostic tasks, and mock examinations, offering constructive feedback to develop high-level evaluative skills and examination technique.
Academic Extension & University Preparation: Support post-16 students with UCAS personal statements, mentor applicants aiming for Sociology, Criminology, and Social Policy degree programs, and guide Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs).
Pastoral Responsibilities: Serve as a Sixth Form or secondary Form Tutor, tracking pupil academic progress, promoting personal wellbeing, and supporting whole-school values.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTSQualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a degree in Sociology, Criminology, or a closely related social science discipline. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced secondary practitioners are equally encouraged to apply.
Experience: Proven experience teaching Sociology across GCSE and A-Level within a UK mainstream secondary school, academy, or sixth form setting.
Skills: High-level subject knowledge across core GCSE and A-Level sociology modules, excellent essay moderation and feedback skills, strong classroom management, and the ability to inspire critical thinking in young people.
