If so, we require an Electrical/Solar Engineer with commercial PV experience to strengthen the existing Operations & Maintenance team located within the North West Area. This role will involve covering sites across Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Blackpool, Lancaster etc.
Abouttherole:As Solar O&M Plant Room Engineer you will be working within Energy Centres / Hospital plant rooms etc. This plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) and electrical generation systems that distribute sustainable energy (such as heating, cooling, and power).

- Oversee,operate,andmaintainsolarPVplantequipment(inverters,DC/ACdistributionboards,stringcombiners,isolationswitchgear,monitoringhardware,etc.).
- Performplannedpreventivemaintenance(PPM) andreactivemaintenancetominimizedowntimeandmaximizeenergyyield.
- Monitorsystemperformance,solarirradiancelevels,DC/ACvoltages,andoverallenergyefficiency.
- DiagnosefaultsincommercialsolarPVandplantroomelectricalsystems.
- Carryoutcorrectiverepairsorescalatetospecialistcontractorswhenrequired.
- Ensureminimaldisruptiontobuilding/energycentreoperations.
- UseBMS(Building Management Systems ) orSCADA/Solar Monitoringportalstomonitorplantoperation.
- Recordandreportonsystemdata(generationoutputs,performanceratios,energy consumption).
- Ensureallworkscomplywithstatutoryregulations(18thEditionBS
7671,IETCodeof Practicefor Grid -connectedSolarPV,Electricityat Work Regulations ,etc.). - Carryoutriskassessments,method statements,andfollowstricthealth&safety protocols(Permitto Worksystems).
- Assistinplantupgrades,solarretrofits,andcommissioningofnewgenerationequipment.
- Maintainaccuraterecordsofmaintenance,electricaltesting,inspections,andsystemperformance.
- Completejobsheets,electricaltestcertificates,andcompliancedocumentation.
- Holda City&Guildselectricalqualificationorequivalent(e.g.,NVQLevel3,18thEdition Wiring Regulations ).
- ExperiencewithcommercialsolarPVinverters,DCstringtesting,andsafeelectricalisolation.
- FullUKmanualdrivinglicence.
