Domestic Retrofit Estimator

What you'll be doing

At

As part of GFS, the Estimator plays a key role in shaping successful bids - building accurate, strategic costings for insulation, building services and renewable or low-carbon measures. Working closely with procurement and operational teams, you'll ensure our pricing not only wins work in a competitive market, but also delivers projects profitably and sustainably.

You'll play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates and project budgets, supporting our strategic pricing approach and high-quality tender submissions.

You'll work closely with Market Creation, Business Development, Operational, and Commercial teams, as well as the

E.ON procurement team, to build robust costings, prepare contractor proposals, and ensure optimal pricing outcomes.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare fully qualified estimates with risk assessments and inclusions/exclusions.
  • Analyse client tender specifications, legislation, and documentation to produce accurate time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and stakeholder meetings to inform estimates.
  • Identify contractual risks and propose mitigating solutions.
  • Maintain supplier, contractor, and subcontractor directories.
  • Support tender processes, including timelines, action plans, and vendor selection.
  • Prepare handover documentation and post-award support for operational teams.
  • Adhere to bid and estimation governance, supporting contract negotiations.
What we need from you
  • Estimating experience in the domestic social housing and/or private retrofit markets with demonstrable experience in insulation, building services or renewable/low carbon measures.
  • Strong financial and commercial experience in estimating and budgeting.
  • Extensive experience in tender assessment and negotiations.
  • Experience with bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and lump sum estimates.
  • Construction-related qualification (ONC, HNC, or equivalent experience).
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in PC-based systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Full UK driving licence.
