The Senior Electronic Engineer will be part of a team providing services in support of analogue, digital, and computer-based safety systems. The team covers requirements through to design and maintenance of systems and products, with emphasis on robust classical analysis and modelling of analogue instrumentation front-ends.
Location:
Wimborne, UK.
- To carry out all work ethically, safely and in accordance with the relevant standards and best practice within the nuclear industry
- Provide a technical lead in specified areas for the team and the company as a whole
- Establish customer solutions and support discussions with customer representatives to agree the optimum outcome in terms of cost, timescale and ease of implementation
- Peer review of technical reports, drawings and designs for safety, functionality and compliance with standards and statutory requirements
- Detailed analysis of existing systems to establish requirements for replacement or refurbishment
- Provide specific technical support to project managers and/or team leaders for projects
- Liaison with suppliers regarding supply and support of third-party equipment
- Occasionally supporting the installation and commissioning of equipment on the customer site
- Developing personal engineering capability across the safety system and instrumentation areas
- Identification of opportunities for process improvement, automation and modernisation within your work
- Security contractual compliance will require incumbents to be a sole British National.
- A degree in Electronics Engineering or demonstrable industry experience in an electronics design role, including schematic design, PCB layout and mixed-mode simulation (e.g. Altium)
- Theoretical understanding and practical experience of analogue electronics design in instrumentation front-ends (noise, frequency response, cabling, temperature sensitivity, and modelling)
- Exposure to and understanding of major digital electronics families and device categories
- Experience of systems engineering of complete electronic systems, including integration of PCBs into racks/cabinets and thermal/reliability considerations
- Use of modern instrumentation such as digital mixed-mode oscilloscopes and programmable instrumentation
- Experience in managing team workloads
- Formal systems engineering tools and processes an advantage – e.g. DOORS
- Ability to communicate effectively within peer group and with managers
- Capable of producing good oral and written communications
