Our client is an established, design:led Architectural and town Planning practice based in Cornwall, delivering thoughtful, sustainable projects across the South West. The portfolio spans bespoke homes, heritage refurbishments, coastal developments, rural schemes and strategic planning projects.
The Structural Engineer RoleYou will work closely with our architects and planning team from concept through to construction, providing practical, elegant structural solutions that complement strong architectural design and sensitive site contexts : particularly within coastal, rural and historic environments.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys early design involvement, creative problem:solving, and direct client engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Structural design and analysis for residential and small:medium scale commercial projects
- Preparation of calculations, technical reports and structural specifications
- Design in steel, timber, masonry and reinforced concrete
- Foundation design including coastal and complex ground conditions
- Liaison with clients, contractors and Building Control
- Site visits and inspections across Cornwall and the South West
- Contribution to sustainable and low:carbon structural solutions
- Degree: qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Working towards or achieved Chartership (MIStruct
E / MICE) preferred - 3+ years experience in UK structural design practice
- Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and UK Building Regulations
- Experience in residential and heritage projects desirable
- Confident communicator with a collaborative mindset
- Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g., Tekla, Tedds, Robot, or similar)
- Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
