Lead Mechanical Engineer - Water
Warrington | Permanent
Salary up to £75,000 per annum + Company Car/Allowance
This is an opportunity to work for one of the UK's leading contractors on multi-million-pound water projects across the North West Region!
This is a long‑term, stable opportunity within a business known for high‑quality delivery, a strong safety culture, and promoting from within.
The Role- As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for mechanical package delivery and technical governance, along with the management of the mechanical package delivery strategy for the framework.
- You will manage site surveys of existing mechanical equipment.
- Handover to project MEICA delivery engineering team.
- Implementation of standard procurement specific requirements in relation to manufacture, off‑site testing, delivery and installation are incorporated within mechanical packages.
- Ensuring that delivery teams are implementing deployed frameworks.
- Collaboration within the wider functions of the business – design, estimating, civils, commercial to support overall effective delivery and continuous improvement.
- Input to design solution at survey and concept stages.
- Production of mechanical enquiry packages based on design documentation.
- Organisation of decommissioning / relocation of existing mechanical equipment.
- Definition of standard products and technical solutions for deployment across the programme.
- Definition of standard procurement specific requirements in relation to manufacture, off‑site testing, delivery and installation are incorporated within mechanical packages.
- Guiding design teams towards standardisation of solutions across the programme.
- Managing key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure production / delivery timescales.
- Liaison with the client’s mechanical lead.
- Review and sign‑off of mechanical elements of condition survey report.
- On and off‑site inspection and testing, including documentation, procedures and critical function witness testing i.e., FAT & SAT, string tests, etc.
- Proven experience in water civil engineering projects.
- Strong background in mechanical engineering.
- Salary up to £75,000 per annum.
- Company car or car allowance.
- Annual bonus scheme (10%).
- 5% matched pension scheme.
- Long-term framework work with progression onto future projects.
