Senior HVAC Project Engineer

The Opportunity Harper Recruitment Group is supporting a well established mechanical and electrical design and build contractor operating across commercial and industrial sectors.

Due to continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Project Engineer to lead the delivery of complex mechanical building services projects ranging from £50k to £5m+.

This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who can manage projects from initial design through to installation, commissioning and final handover. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and within budget.

This is a fulltime, office based position located in Nottingham. Candidates should live within a reasonable daily commuting distance.

• Develop HVAC system specifications, construction drawings, plant schedules and technical documentation
• Prepare technical submissions and manage RFI communication with project managers
• Manage procurement including placing orders with suppliers and subcontractors
• Coordinate site works and oversee subcontractor performance
• Control project costs from inception to final account, including monthly applications for payment
• Monitor labour and material expenditure, forecasts and overall project P&L
• Manage variations, additional works and associated commercial documentation
• Conduct site inspections and attend client and subcontractor meetings
• Resolve technical issues arising during installation and construction
• Oversee commissioning and start up of new HVAC systems
• Prepare operating and maintenance manuals and handover documentation
• Provide technical support and training to clients
• Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies and industry developments

• HND/HNC or degree in Mechanical Building Services or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years’ experience within mechanical HVAC design and build environments
• Strong understanding of HVAC principles, systems and installation methods
• Experience or understanding of AutoCAD and BIM software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a project team
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem solving skills
• Commercial awareness and confidence managing project costs

• £50,000–£60,000 depending on experience
