Location: Leicester and Nottingham
Duration: Up to 3 Weeks (Freelance Contract)
Start Date: Immediate / To Be Confirmed

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Surveyor to undertake a programme of dilapidation surveys across four university campuses in Leicester and Nottingham.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out detailed visual inspections of building services installations and producing clear, concise survey reports. The surveys will focus primarily on identifying and documenting hot water cylinders and associated mechanical services infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual mechanical and electrical surveys across multiple university buildings.
  • Identify, inspect, and record hot water cylinders and associated plant.
  • Assess the condition of mechanical services installations as part of dilapidation surveys.
  • Survey and document:
    • Pipework systems
    • Pumps
    • Valves
    • Associated mechanical plant and equipment
  • Capture photographic evidence and asset information.
  • Produce accurate condition and dilapidation reports.
  • Record observations regarding asset condition, accessibility, defects, and maintenance requirements.
  • Liaise with the project team to ensure surveys are completed within programme timescales.

Requirements

  • Previous experience carrying out M&E condition, asset, or dilapidation surveys.
  • Good understanding of commercial and institutional building services.
  • Ability to identify and assess hot water cylinders, pumps, valves, and pipework systems.
  • Experience producing professional survey reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites.

Contract Details

  • Freelance contract for up to 3 weeks.
  • Surveys to be undertaken across four university campuses in Leicester and Nottingham.
  • Competitive day rate available, dependent on experience.
