An exciting opportunity for a PhD-qualified Engineer to design and develop an innovative instrument for wound healing measurement. The device involves the fabrication of optical fibre sensors, their characterisation, and development of optoelectronic measurement. The main aim is to develop an automated approach for reliable manufacturing of optical fibre ammonia and temperature sensors.

Candidate must hold a PhD in Electronic, Biomedical or Optical Engineering.

• Development of instrumentation.
• Fibre optics sensors in the field of healthcare.
• Knowledge of optical fibre physical sensors, optoelectronics and systems designs.
• Data capture, recording of data and report writing to a professional standard.

• Ability to work independently and also as part of a team.
• Enthusiasm, motivation and drive to embed new knowledge and to take full ownership of the project.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

This is a fixed-term 15 month contract.

Working hours:

36.25 hours per week. Part‑time work (minimum 20 hours per week) and job‑share arrangements are also considered. Specify preferred hours in your application.
