About The Role
The role Gateley Smithers Purslow are looking to recruit a full time Building Surveyor to join our growing team in Nottingham.
The work will primarily be Midlands based plus local areas surrounding Nottingham. This is a busy and varied role providing support to the Surveying team on a wide range of projects, including insurance work, primarily residential and commercial buildings in all forms of construction. The Building Surveyor is expected to support their Line Manager and is responsible for handling projects within own level of authority and providing training and guidance to supporting team members.

- Inspect and provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites.
- Inspections to involve acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations
- To prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications
- To design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and to current technical standards
- To understand and apply other relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning
- To help promote the company’s services and secure projects.
- At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
The team Gateley Smithers Purslow is a multi-disciplinary independent private practice established in 1978, who specialize in civil and structural engineering, building surveying, cost consultancy, architecture and planning, insurance claims, and heritage conservation. The company includes highly skilled professionals such as Chartered Building Surveyors, Chartered Structural Engineers, and Architects, who operate across the UK within the insurance market. The firm is committed to providing practical and workable solutions for building and infrastructure projects, serving a diverse range of clients in both the public and private sectors.

The person
Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
- BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying Experience and working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements and technical publications.
- Experience in Defect Diagnosis and report writing Insurance repair project experience preferred
- Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large scale projects
- Experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation
- Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills and the ability to think methodically to problem solve.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and Variable Attitude to work type
