The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the organisation’s finance function and ensuring robust financial management, governance and control. The role provides strategic financial leadership, supports executive decision-making and ensures the organisation’s financial sustainability and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, develop and manage the finance function, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism
- Develop and implement the organisation’s financial strategy in line with business objectives
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processes
- Produce timely and accurate management accounts, statutory accounts and financial reports
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements
- Manage cash flow, treasury activities and funding arrangements
- Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and advisers
- Provide financial insight, analysis and recommendations to the Board and senior leadership team
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing appropriate controls and mitigation strategies
- Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes and internal controls
- Support business growth initiatives, investment appraisals and strategic projects
- May require additional hours during key reporting, audit and planning cycles
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Significant senior-level experience in finance leadership roles
- Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and financial management
- Experience working with senior stakeholders, Boards and external partners
- Strategic thinking with strong commercial awareness
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- High level of financial and analytical capability
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to influence and challenge at senior levels
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of governance
- High levels of integrity and professionalism
