Assistant Accountant

Graduate Assistant Accountant – £28,000 DOE – Permanent – West Bridgford – Full Time – Monday – Friday

Harper Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a well established and fast growing business. They are looking for a Graduate Assistant Accountant to support the finance team with month end reporting, reconciliations, VAT, stock, and commercial analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate looking to build a career within management accounts in a commercial environment.

• Supporting the preparation of accurate month end management accounts
• Assisting with weekly stock takes and stock management, including adjustments and analysis
• Posting monthly prepayments and accruals journals
• Posting general journals as required
• Reviewing overheads to ensure accuracy and correct allocation
• Completing month end bank reconciliations
• Daily cash posting
• Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Preparing and submitting monthly VAT returns
• Updating and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
• Assisting with preparation of cash flow forecasts
• Producing key sales and production reports daily, weekly and monthly
• Supporting the Lead Management Accountant with ongoing tasks and projects
• Contributing to process improvements across the finance function
• Assisting with the preparation of the annual budget
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support operational needs
• Completing supplier payment runs
• Providing ad hoc support to the finance department as required

• A recent graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related discipline
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and solve problems
• Able to work to strict deadlines in a fast paced environment
• High level of attention to detail with strong organisational skills
• Process driven with the ability to challenge existing methods and support improvements
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise workload
• Confident, motivated and eager to learn within a commercial finance environment
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Interest in progressing with AAT/ACCA/CIMA study support
