Eaton Syalon is exclusively partnering with a high growth acquisitive Nottingham based business to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant to join its finance team in a key role, supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and continuous improvement across the function. This is a newly created role within the organisation.
Working closely with the Financial Controller & CFO, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of financial accounting activities, from statutory reporting and group consolidations to process improvements and business projects. TheOpportunity
As Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in ensuring the organisation maintains a robust financial control environment while delivering accurate statutory reporting, group consolidations and tax compliance.
This is a varied role with the opportunity to lead projects, influence finance transformation initiatives and support best practice across the finance function.
Your key responsibilities will include:- Maintaining and enhancing a robust financial control environment.
- Safeguarding company assets and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Leading month-end and year-end financial processes.
- Developing and monitoring internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Acting as a key contact for external auditors and tax advisers.
- Ensuring statutory, regulatory and audit requirements are met.
You'll confidently take ownership of:
- End-to-end balance sheet management.
- Group consolidation processes.
- Preparation of financial accounts.
- Statutory accounts.
- Tax compliance.
- IFRS and FRS 102 reporting requirements.
You'll bring strong technical expertise, including:
- A thorough understanding of current accounting and tax legislation.
- Experience applying IFRS and FRS 102 standards.
- Strong knowledge of accounting within Group structures.
- Understanding of both direct and indirect taxation.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll help:
- Support, mentor and develop colleagues within the finance team.
- Encourage collaboration across the business.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
You'll produce meaningful financial information that supports business performance, including:
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- High-quality financial reporting.
- Actionable commercial insights.
- Continuous improvement of reporting processes and financial data integrity.
You'll help drive positive change by:
- Streamlining finance processes.
- Automating manual tasks where possible.
- Improving reporting efficiency.
- Supporting finance transformation initiatives.
- Embedding best-practice financial processes across the organisation.
- Working with stakeholders to improve financial understanding across the business.
You'll also lead or support a variety of finance and business projects, including:
- Systems implementations and upgrades.
- Process redesign.
- Finance transformation initiatives.
- Other ad hoc projects as required by the Finance Director.
You'll be a fully qualified accountant or a finalist studying towards your qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
You'll also bring:
- Strong financial accounting experience.
- Excellent understanding of financial governance and controls.
- Experience producing statutory financial accounts.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and FRS 102.
- Experience with Group consolidations.
- A solid understanding of direct and indirect taxation.
- A track record of driving continuous improvement.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- A collaborative team player.
- Detail-focused with exceptional accuracy.
- Commercially aware with strong statutory accounting knowledge.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proactive, solution-focused and confident challenging existing ways of working.
