We are seeking an experienced indirect tax professional to join our growing Nottingham team. This role offers a blend of compliance and advisory work, ideal for someone who enjoys building long‑term client relationships while tackling complex VAT projects.
The OpportunityAs a key member of an established and expanding tax team, you will deliver both compliance and advisory services to a varied client base. The role balances technical VAT work with client‑facing responsibilities, allowing you to manage your own portfolio and collaborate with senior leadership on strategic initiatives.

As VAT Manager you will oversee a portfolio of clients, providing practical and commercially focused VAT advice while ensuring compliance obligations are met.
- Manage a portfolio of VAT clients and act as their main point of contact
- Review VAT returns and ensure compliance with current legislation
- Deliver advisory projects across a range of VAT matters
- Advising on partial exemption, land and property transactions, and international VAT issues
- Support clients with VAT planning and risk management
- Manage HMRC enquiries, investigations, and VAT audits
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Review work completed by junior team members
- Mentor and develop colleagues within the VAT team
- Identify opportunities to expand VAT services across existing clients
- ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent qualification
- Strong VAT/indirect tax experience gained within practice or industry
- Excellent technical knowledge of UK VAT legislation
- Experience advising on complex VAT matters including property, international VAT, or partial exemption
- Proven ability to manage client relationships independently
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial mindset with a proactive approach
- Experience reviewing work and supporting junior team members
