Head of Finance

North West England (with regular UK travel)

STOIX is retained on the search for a Head of Finance to join a growing UK business as the senior finance leader responsible for the operational effectiveness and performance of the finance function. Acting as deputy to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will lead central financial control, planning and performance management, while providing leadership, support and challenge to a wider regional finance community.

The business has a substantial forward pipeline of complex, multi-stakeholder activity and needs a finance function that is robust, scalable and commercially sharp. A significant finance transformation programme is also underway; the Head of Finance will be a key senior customer, shaping requirements, supporting adoption and, over time, taking ownership of the resulting finance operating environment.

• Deputise for the Finance Director and lead the central finance team, including the Financial Controller and FP&A Manager.
• Own financial control, governance, statutory reporting, audit and cash management, ensuring the quality and timeliness of management and Group reporting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning and performance reporting, driving improvements in the quality of forward-looking insight.
• Set national standards for the wider regional finance community while preserving appropriate regional accountability.
• Support senior leaders in evaluating performance, risk, investment decisions and commercial opportunities.

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with significant post-qualified experience in a senior commercial finance, financial control or FP&A leadership role.
• Strong technical grounding across control, reporting, audit, statutory accounting and governance, combined with strong FP&A capability.
• Experience of a project-based commercial environment, with the ability to challenge complex business cases, cash flows, funding structures and joint venture arrangements, would be highly valuable.
• Comfortable acting as an intelligent customer of systems and process change.
• Confident communicator with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders alike.
