On-Call Firefighter Talentpool – Hertfordshire County Council
OverviewOn-Call Firefighters provide a 24 hour emergency response service for fires, road traffic collisions and other serious incidents. The service includes prevention and protection activities to reduce fires and other incidents, including enforcement of Fire Safety legislation. The On-Call element is fundamental to emergency cover across the county, with firefighters who respond when paged by the Fire Control Centre. Many On-Call firefighters have other jobs and provide cover during weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities- Be part of a community group of On-Call firefighters who respond when paged.
- Cover weekdays, evenings and weekends as required to support emergency response in Hertfordshire.
- Be over 18 years of age at the start of the recruit course (no upper age limit).
- Have the right to live and work in the UK.
- Not have any unspent criminal convictions (if you have a criminal record, you must inform us in your application).
- Be less than 4 minutes away from your chosen On-Call fire station (station locations can be found here).
There is no upper age limit for applicants. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone able to provide daytime cover during the week.
