Overview
The Probation Service is looking for empathetic, patient and organised people to join us as Probation Services Officers. In this role you will work with medium and lower risk offenders before and after sentence, helping them to turn their lives around while supporting the public’s safety.
Responsibilities- Conduct assessments and manage risks for offenders on probation.
- Support sentence implementation and liaise with courts and agencies.
- Provide case‑management support using service procedures and professional judgement.
- Produce clear, accurate reports to tight deadlines.
- Offer practical advice on housing, employment and other practical matters.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Empathy, patience and resilience in working with people who have social or personal difficulties.
- Organisational ability and the capacity to manage a caseload within deadlines.
- You do not need a degree, but you should have the personal qualities and experience mentioned above.
- Experience working with challenging or vulnerable populations is desirable.
- Annual leave: 25 days (increasing to 30 after five years) and public holidays.
