Job Description & How to Apply Below

Help shape one of the UK's most ambitious cities. Nottingham is changing. Major regeneration projects, city centre renewal, new homes, investment in transport and infrastructure, and a clear long-term City Vision are creating exciting opportunities across the city. As a Core City, Nottingham delivers a scale and complexity of development that few local authorities can match. At the same time, the building control profession has never been more important.

Following the Building Safety Act and the renewed national focus on public safety and building standards, Building Control is at the forefront of creating safer places for people to live, work and visit. Nottingham City Council is investing significantly in its Building Control service. We are expanding our team, modernising our technology, improving our systems, and creating clear career pathways for staff.

We are also preparing for the opportunities presented by Local Government Reorganisation and the continued growth of Nottingham as a major regional centre. We are now looking for three Building Control Officers to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse and challenging range of projects, from domestic developments through to complex urban regeneration schemes, while playing a key role in protecting public safety.

You'll join a supportive, forward-thinking service that values professional expertise and actively invests in the development of its people. Whether you are looking to broaden your experience, progress your career, or simply be part of an ambitious service with strong leadership and investment behind it, Nottingham offers a compelling opportunity.

  • Registered Building Inspector Class 2A (minimum)
  • Good working knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
  • Ability to undertake site inspections and assess compliance.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
