- The Role:
You will join our busy Environmental Protection and Housing team, managing a broad range of environmental health investigations including Statutory Nuisance, contaminated land, and air quality matters. Based in our modern offices at Rushcliffe Arena in West Bridgford, you will work as an experienced, confident, and self-motivated officer. You will enforce Environmental Health legislation through inspections, projects and targeted advice or education.
You will conduct investigations, produce written reports, and attend court as necessary. This role includes appropriate enforcement and prosecution action as required. We support flexible working on a hybrid basis to suit our business needs, with the option to work from home. Technical Officer Environmental Protection and Housing
- Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and manage environmental health investigations across multiple areas including Statutory Nuisance, contaminated land, and air quality
- Enforce Environmental Health legislation via inspections, projects and targeted advice or education
- Take appropriate enforcement and prosecution action as required, including preparing cases for Legal Services and attending court
- Update paper and computer based records as required
- Prepare letters, notices and reports in respect of work carried out
- Develop and maintain effective collaborative working with other agencies
- Keep up to date with legislation and guidance relevant to the field Technical Officer Environmental Protection and Housing
- You:
- Experienced and self-motivated with environmental health knowledge and ability to manage investigations
- Demonstrable experience of undertaking complex environmental health investigations, writing reports and formal documents
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people with tact and diplomacy in situations of potential conflict
- At least 2 A-levels and 5 GCSE passes including English and Maths, or equivalent
- Relevant environmental health related qualifications and knowledge of EH legislation and practice
- Ability to investigate offences and work successfully to tight deadlines and changing priorities Benefits:
